The basis of the 1954 film “Sabrina” staring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, the play is set on Long Island in the 1950s, and deals with the involvement of a very rich family named Larrabee with Sabrina Fairchild, the daughter of their family chauffeur.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
- The auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
- The character of Paul D’Argenson is French and speaks with a French accent.
- All ages listed for the characters are “playing ages”.
- Sabrina Fairchild: (Female presenting; mid-20s) The chauffeur's daughter who returns from five years in Paris, having become a sophisticated and glamorous woman.
- Linus Larrabee, Jr.: (Male presenting; mid-30s – early 40s) The elder Larrabee son, a successful and pragmatic businessman who takes control of the family fortune.
- David Larrabee: (Male presenting; late 20s – early 30s) The younger Larrabee son, a handsome and charming playboy who was Sabrina's childhood affection.
- Thomas Fairchild: (Male presenting; 50s – 60s) The Larrabees' loyal chauffeur and Sabrina's father.
- Maude Larrabee: (Female presenting; late 50s) The wise and perceptive mother of Linus and David.
- Julia Ward McKinlock: (Female presenting; late 50s) A house guest and a sharp, interested observer of the events unfolding.
- Linus Larrabee, Sr.:(Male presenting; 60s) The retired head of a wealthy family living in the Long Island Sound, known for his passion for attending funerals.
- Margaret: (Female presenting; 40s – 60s) Maid to the Larrabees’, Sabrina’s friend.
- Gretchen: (Female presenting; late 20s – early 30s) David Larabee’s ex-wife.
- Paul D’Argenson: (Male presenting; 30s – 40s) French businessman and friend of Sabrina’s.
- Party guests: (2 male presenting and 2 female presenting; 20s – 40s) Guests at a party given at the Larabee estate; appear in one scene.
